Metropolitan Strategy for Al Riyadh

Dar al Riyadh in joint venture with Harland Bartholomew Associates, was commissioned to undertake the integration of the existing studies, developing new concepts and establishing directives for continuous planning and urban management activities in order to assist government, private sector and the Riyadh community at large in the decision making process for the next century.
The purpose of the MEDSTAR Project was to assess the impact of rapid growth, identify existing and potential problems and develop a dynamic development strategy along with its implementation mechanisms. The main objective was to formulate a 50-year vision, a 25-year strategic framework and a 1o-year implementation plan.

The project consisted of three phases; data collection, interpretation, preparation of urban and development models, goal achievement analysis, social cost benefit analysis, impact assessments and optimization methods.

Scope of work: Urban & regional planning for the city of Riyadh.
